Jillian Michaels App Review

This post will discuss Jillian Michaels App. I am all for fitness at home. I have not gone to the gym since my daughter was born. I find that fitness apps energize me more so than just trying to do my own routine. There are so many fitness apps out there, I recently came across the Jillian Michaels App, it makes working out easier as it includes instruction, motivation and music.

Who is Jillian Michaels?

Jillian Michaels is a personal trainer who has created an exercise empire. She has authored  several books -click here and has a whole line of fitness DVD’s -click here. In a recent podcast she mentioned that she would be phasing out the dvd’s. read an interview with Jillian Michaels, she mentioned that when she was in the eighth grade she weighed was 175 pounds and was 5’2. The kids teased her frequently about her weight and appearance. She has built an empire on trying to help others.

www.jillianmichaels.comJillian advocates for making time for yourself. She feels most of us have 12 hours  a week to spend on yourself, 4 of which should be dedicated to fitness. If you are short of time then working out at home will save you the trip to the gym.

We know as we get older we lose muscle mass and have a tendency to gain weight. Most of us do not get the the recommended amount of exercise. According to the American Heart Association, we should be performing 150 minutes of exercise a week including

  • “Moderate- to high-intensity muscle-strengthening activity at least 2 days per week for additional health benefits.”

We should incorporate exercise into our daily routines. Walking is good but you need to perform some strength training. An app like Jillian Michaels App does just that. She is an inspiration, her app motivates me to do more.

The Jillian Michaels App has both a workout program and a meal plan. It is subscription based and has already been updated to add more features. There are over 550 video to choose from, ranging from beginner to advanced. There are also customizable workout plans.

I enjoy the ability to customize the Jillian Michaels App. For example, there may be several different exercises that you will be performing. If you do not like one of these you can swap it out for another exercise, there are several different exercises to choose from. The app generates a new routine each day so you’re not stuck doing the same video repetitively and hitting a plateau.

The Jillian Michaels App contains a number of different of exercises which includes interval cardio training and toning workouts. There is also weightlifting, kickboxing, pilates and martial arts. As you can see, the app gives you a diverse workout.

Another feature I enjoy in the Jillian Michaels App is the ability to quickly change the difficulty of the exercise, if it is too hard or you are looking for something more challenging it can be accomplished with just a swipe.

The workout sessions play for 6 to 30 minutes, you decide. There are videos that focus on different parts of your body such as booty boot camp, banginBikini Body, Sexy Abs and Slim 60.

Fitness for Beginners on the Jillian Michaels App

Fitness for Beginners is program which consists of 10 unique 20 minute workouts which are sequenced to to get you on the path to your best self. For people just starting their fitness journey you may be reluctant to start a workout program, especially if you have been very sedentary. If the thought of working out makes you tired then this is a good program to start with.

Dad Bod on the Jillian Michaels App

This program is designed for those who have gained 20 or so pounds. The program consists of “four 25 minute metabolic circuit training workouts a week that are comprised of resistance training and HIIT intervals. Then you will perform 2 days of moderate 20 minute active recovery cardio sessions. With one day of complete rest per week.” The meal plan is also suggested to get your best results.

Transform 90 on the Jillian Michaels App

This program is designed for  rapid weight loss system. It was created for individuals who have gained over 30 pounds. In Transform 90, “Jillian trains you through 36 totally unique, 25-minute workouts, and trains you through three progressive phases of fitness to meet you where you are at and subsequently transform your body, your health, and your life.”

Wedding Warrior on the Jillian Michaels App

This is a boot camp program designed to get you to your best in 6 weeks. “The has program 20 unique workouts that alternate between 40-minute strength days and 25-minute cardio days to get you in insane, stunning, sick, amazing shape for your trip down the aisle.”

Slim 60 on the Jillian Michaels App

Slim 60 was designed to help those who cannot lose the last 10-20 pounds. “Slim 60 has 26 unique 25-minute workouts designed to maximize your athletic and metabolic potential to achieve your absolute strongest, sexiest self.”

Sexy Abs on the Jillian Michaels App

This program advertises toned abs in just 4 weeks, it consists of 18 unique 25-minute workouts that utilize HIIT circuits and core-focused strength exercises to deliver amazing results!

Lean Legs on the Jillian Michaels App

Lean legs is another 4 week program that is designed to slim and tone the legs. The program consists of “18 unique 25-minute workouts designed to burn fat, strengthen, tone and condition your lower body so you look and feel your absolute best.”

Bounce Back Baby on the Jillian Michaels App

This program takes into account those woman who have had  C-section or diastasis recti. The exercises are designed to heal and strengthen  your core strength. Make sure to get clearance from your doctor before starting the program!

Beautiful Back, Chest and Arms on the Jillian Michaels App

This program consists of 18 unique 25-minute workouts, sequenced strategically over 4 weeks to tone your back, chest and arms.

Videos on the Jillian Michaels App

The videos are clear and nicely timed so that you can ensure you are using proper form. The visuals are great, even on a smaller phone.  It is similar to her DVD’s if you have watched them, there is a lot of motivating comments and coaching.

Another feature of the Jillian Michaels App is the music. The exercises are performed to upbeat music. You also have the option of switching songs and using your own music.

Setting up the Jillian Michaels App

When you open the app you are asked if you have simple equipment such as dumbbells, stability ball, medicine ball or a workout bench. The app will have you set up your profile which includes your current weight, your goal weight and your age. The app also requests information on your current fitness level.

There are other features on this app as well. You are able to sync your workouts to the health app. The app is compatible with most bluetooth heart rate monitors.

With an app like the Jillian Michaels App on your phone you can essentially work out anywhere. For those who get bored easy, the multitude of videos and different workout programs allow for a variety of workouts and changing it up a bit.

Meal Plan on the Jillian Michaels App

The Jillian Michaels App also includes a meal plan. A nutritionist is involved in oversight of the menu plan. According to her website, “All my bulletproof meal plans are co-created with professional chefs and registered dieticians, so they taste amazing and deliver insane results. Every plan offers focused guidelines, recipes, menus, shopping lists and even dining out tips, so all the guesswork is gone. Easily swap out recipes and tailor to taste.”

The meal plan includes different types of diets such as paleo, vegan, gluten-free and omnivore. If there is no time to cook the app recommends foods that can purchased in the store such as Amy’s.

There are hundreds of recipes on the Jillian Michaels App. Similar to the workout plan, the recipes can be easily changed to offer a different choice. The meal plan also comes with shopping lists.

The Jillian Michaels App allows you to track calories. Journaling or tracking your calories has been shown to help with weight loss, you are more aware of what you are eating.

If you follow the meal plan or keep track of the foods you are eating then other information is available such as fat content, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, and protein. This information is very useful. You need to ensure you are getting enough nutrients and protein in your diet which is not always the case, especially if you are on a diet plan.

The app will make helpful suggestions such as drinking water or provide suggestions such as what to eat when you go out to dine. If you include your location, the app will mention nearby parks.

The Jillian Michaels app will track your progress as you embark on this wellness plan. The app will monitor your progress with a personal dashboard that tracks your weight, workouts and calories burned.

The site offers numerous support groups and clubs where you can get together virtually with others. You can ask questions and share ideas.

The Jillians Michaels app is constantly evolving with updates, her team listens  to feedback.

A personal trainer will cost more but the trainer will be able to offer you personalized services, something an app cannot. All of the interactions will be online which allows the flexibility of working at at anytime and place without being restricted by someone else’s schedule.

Let’s face it, any form of exercise is good. Some of the Youtube videos are wonderful. They will take some time to search out. An app is readily available with features that allow you to customize the program, you cannot do that with a Youtube video

Jillian Michaels App offers customer support, a feature other apps to not have.

If you do not like a paid app I have tried several others. So far my favorite is the one from Nike. As expected, it does not have all the features that the Jillian Michaels App has.

  1. Sounds interesting.
    Many start going to gym and do not continue, doing exercise at home is more convenient for many people. I like the meal plan and that they are for different diets ,these days vegan is on the raise.
    It is usually more fun to do exercise or walking together in a group, but for people who like it why not use this app. Always good to do exercise .
